As a popular standard work and a household book for every Tyrolean family, this richly illustrated and easily readable history of Tyrol, despite its scientific accuracy, has been recognized since its first publication in 1984. The work is now available in its sixth edition, updated with new research findings and recent events, and significantly expanded with additional images. The content now dedicates even more space to contemporary history. It begins with two chapters contributed by Prof. Franz Fliri, which deal with the formation and history of the Tyrolean landscape. In principle, it remains as it was: those who want to quickly and thoroughly inform themselves about the tumultuous history of Tyrol within its old borders will find chapters not only on political developments but also on economic and social conditions.
