The book addresses the global efforts to establish Health Technology Assessment (HTA) in healthcare. The author outlines the historical development of HTA and presents a careful definition of the term. This includes a critical examination of the fundamental principles of HTA as well as the associated legal aspects. In addition to the structure and subtypes of HTAs, a solution approach is introduced to clearly differentiate between types of HTA. A significant portion of the work provides an accessible introduction to the disciplines involved in HTA. Selected national and international HTA agencies are also portrayed.
