This volume on Hegel's "Encyclopedia of the Philosophical Sciences" (1830) is part of a three-volume commentary on Hegel's major works. The aim of these commentaries is to make Hegel's philosophical work accessible to a broader readership. They seek not to replace independent reading of the often very difficult Hegel texts with a referential presentation, but rather to enable it—through text-close explanations, systematic clarifications of concepts, and the demonstration of substantive connections within the vast structure of Hegel's work. The philosophical and historical contexts in which Hegel's system emerges and gains structure are also highlighted. All authors involved in this project are well-established in Hegel research and interpretation through their own contributions, allowing their commentaries to claim credibility in this regard as well.
