Heidegger's "The Origin of the Work of Art" is one of the most important contributions to philosophical aesthetics and a key text for Heidegger's entire thought. However, reading it is considered difficult for students and beginners in Heidegger's philosophy. This volume aims to guide and facilitate the understanding of the essay on art: In 18 contributions, the authors present the fundamental ideas as well as the philosophical and literary sources of the text in their interpretations, situate it within Heidegger's work, and outline its philosophical impact. This first cooperative commentary on the essay on art connects to the prior knowledge and interests of its readers in various ways, thus allowing for an easier entry into the reading and exploring the text from different perspectives of philosophy and art studies.
