Product details
This volume contains the two "Heidi" novels published in 1880 and 1881 by Swiss author Johanna Spyri, who advocated for the needs of children, especially girls, in numerous stories and essays: The orphaned child Heidi lives with her reclusive grandfather Alp-Öhi and the eleven-year-old goat herder Geissenpeter on an idyllic alpine pasture in the canton of Graubünden. However, she is taken by her aunt Dete to Frankfurt am Main to keep company with the paralyzed Klara Sesemann; it is here that Heidi learns to read and write. Filled with longing for the mountains, Heidi eventually returns to her homeland. In the second novel, Klara visits Heidi. However, the stay leads to a conflict with the jealous Geissenpeter. When Heidi decides to take Klara to her beloved alpine pasture, a dramatic turn occurs in the life of the paralyzed girl.
