The preparation of refugee children for regular school lessons presents special challenges for educators. The concept developed and tested by Ursula Kerkmann is designed for working with children of primary school age and combines singing with targeted language support and social integration. Methodically and didactically well-crafted and easily implementable lesson plans support the language acquisition of children in need of language assistance. Various approaches, including acoustic, visual, motor, rhythmic, and cognitive aspects of teaching, are taken into account. It includes 77 attractively illustrated picture cards in A4 format for visualizing the learning content. Additionally, a CD with 60 audio recordings is available to help familiarize with the songs. A handbook for primary school and music teachers, as well as for enthusiastic singing primary school and language support staff, is also included.
