Product details

He must be tattooed. There is hardly a sentence that captures more accurately what Herbert Hoffmann was driven by throughout his life: the passion for the tattooed man. From neck to feet, he himself was covered in ink. Over time, it had faded, turned bluer, lost its vibrancy, yet remained, until the end, legible. Between 1960 and 1975, Hoffmann filled an album with illustrated articles about many tattooed men and women from magazines, with cartoons featuring tattoos, and with business cards from tattoo studios. The pages are beautiful, the articles intentionally grouped; Hoffmann was a perfectionist, and his even handwriting runs like a common thread through his work. This book reflects that work, showcasing a passion and a piece of collector's history from his estate.
