Product details

Herbert Rimpl, head of the largest architecture firm in Western Europe during the Third Reich, significantly influenced the German reconstruction. From an architectural sociology perspective, the book provides insights into the Nazi and post-war periods, filling a research gap in architectural history. Herbert Rimpl became known for modern industrial buildings for the Ernst Heinkel Aircraft Works and benefited from the armaments industry during the Third Reich, allowing him to establish the largest architecture firm in Western Europe in a very short time. He employed around 1,000 staff for urban planning, industrial buildings, residential construction on an urban scale, and representative state architecture for clients such as Hermann Göring and Albert Speer, including many renowned architects who, like Rimpl, later shaped the German reconstruction. The architect's life is examined in a multifaceted and critical manner.
