The bilingual handbook of media systems in Germany and Russia is a continuation of the similarly structured handbook "Journalistic Genres in Germany and Russia," which was published in 2010 by Herbert von Halem Verlag. Like its predecessor, it aims to foster a better mutual understanding between the two nations, where active exchange at all levels is particularly important given historical and current conflicts. It provides an overview of the media systems of the two largest language communities and countries in Europe, where significant ethnic minorities of the respective other culture also reside. The book consists of two parts. The first part contains keyword articles on the topics of press, radio, television, online media, agencies, and media in general. The second part presents data tables and graphics that primarily relate to the media systems.
