In the debates surrounding the crisis of European integration, the question of the continent's spiritual identity characteristics has so far played a neglected role. The inspirational power of Christianity seems to have weakened. Against this backdrop, there is an urgent need for a new holistic understanding of faith and God, the contours of which are developed by the Parisian theologian Christoph Theobald in his book.
