Therese of Lisieux, originally Thérèse of the Child Jesus and of the Holy Face (1873-1897), left behind a spiritual book with her self-written autobiography, published under the title "Story of a Soul," which continues to be widely received around the world today. In Germany, Thérèse's text of devotion to God and fellow human beings has also become a classic of spiritual literature. Andreas Wollbold has newly translated this significant book for contemporary readers and has enriched it with numerous annotations. Many historical illustrations depict the life journey of Thérèse, who was canonized in 1925 and declared a Doctor of the Church in 1997.
