Product details

The biblical book of Micah is attributed to the prophet Micah of Moresheth (8th century BC), but it may have reached its final form only in the 3rd century BC. In the Hebrew Bible, it forms the center of the Book of the Twelve Prophets, a compendium of Israelite prophetic writings. In Micah, lines converge that originate from Hosea and Amos with their criticism of Samaria. Lines also extend from Micah that reach to the end of the Book of the Twelve. Micah contains sharp social criticism passages, as well as the well-known prophecy of the pilgrimage of nations to Zion. For the history of Christian influence, the prophecy of the coming ruler from Bethlehem is significant. The aim of the present commentary is to capture Micah as the centerpiece of the Book of the Twelve in its entirety.
