Product details
Siger of Brabant (circa 1240-1284), whom Dante regarded as a prototype of a philosopher, is considered a pioneer of a purely philosophical quest for truth in 13th-century Paris. His thesis, derived from Aristotle, that the intellect of all humans is one, quickly led to intense discussions with Thomas Aquinas and other contemporaries. Siger's most revolutionary work, his investigations into Aristotle's treatise "On the Soul," is presented here for the first time in complete translation. Additionally, fragments of his response to Thomas Aquinas's critique are included.
