In addition to the classic liturgies of the church, there is now a wide repertoire of new church blessing ceremonies, for example for newborns, at the transition to adulthood, for couples, and for those who, for various reasons, cannot have a church wedding (such as homosexuals or remarried divorcees). These blessing ceremonies respond to the needs of people who do not necessarily have or seek a close relationship with the local church.
