Product details

Many contemporary analyses see acceleration as the central characteristic of modern life. According to the renowned sociologist Hartmut Rosa, modern societies can only stabilize dynamically through constant growth, increase, and intensification. However, alienation and lack of relationships are widespread consequences. Rosa argues that resonant world relationships should be sought, which can be found in experiences of love, friendship, art, nature, and also religion. In volume 286 of the series Quastiones Disputatae, Rosa's widely discussed theses on acceleration and resonance are controversially debated from theological perspectives, and the challenges of the accelerated present are explored in exemplary fields of church practice. Contributions by: Rainer Bucher, Ottmar Fuchs, Stefan Gärtner, Bernhard Grümme, Friedhelm Hengsbach SJ, Hans-Joachim Höhn.
