Product details

Due to the increasing intensity of competition, many manufacturers can no longer assert themselves in the market solely with their product. To stand out from competitors, it is often necessary to offer product-additive services. Leasing plays a particularly significant role in this context. However, leasing offers have established themselves to varying degrees in the markets of the manufacturing industry. Currently, the leasing volume being processed is almost exclusively realized by automobile manufacturers, while other manufacturers offer little to no leasing for their products. This work examines for the first time the competitive strategic importance of a product-additive leasing offer for manufacturers. It is highlighted that leasing can contribute to the survival of many manufacturers. Furthermore, it is shown that manufacturers who act as lessors themselves can achieve competitive advantages compared to third-party providers. Recommendations are developed regarding when it makes sense to collaborate with an independent leasing company and when a manufacturer should act as a lessor themselves.
