However, a heart attack is not solely the result of blocked coronary arteries, and only rarely is an attack triggered by acute stress. Rather, chronic suppression of emotions and social isolation predispose individuals to a heart attack. This book demonstrates how the personality of the heart patient, their emotional and relational life, as well as many other aspects of our lifestyle, significantly contribute to the development of a heart attack. The link lies in a weakness or blockage of the regulations that calm the heart (parasympathetic nervous system, vagus nerve), regardless of the condition of the coronary arteries.
