Heteronormativity-critical research seeks to uncover the workings of normative mechanisms behind what is considered naturally given and to place these at the center of critique. The volume gathers empirical studies on the content, enforcement, functioning, and effects of such norms, as well as their connection to other societal power mechanisms.
