Murder investigations on a foreign world. At the beginning of the 30th century, humanity is divided: some live on Earth, crammed under massive domes, while others - the so-called "Spacers" - have settled on alien planets. However, with this spatial separation, very different worldviews and social structures develop. Investigator Elijah Baley experiences this firsthand when he is sent to Solaria to solve the murder of a scientist alongside his old partner R. Daneel Olivaw. Solaria's social order differs significantly from that of Earth: personal contact among humans is frowned upon, and there are far more robots than humans. But Baley struggles the most with the vast, open landscape, which he, as a resident of the earthly dome cities, is not accustomed to.
