In his introductory text, Hans Werner Dannowski describes how he ended up in the Nordheide in 1945 and why Hannover became his home. That very Hannover, which Karl Johaentges chose as the starting point for his photographic journeys. His images showcase Lower Saxony in all its diversity, the life in the Wadden Sea and the flat landscape beneath the wide horizon, the Lüneburg Heath and the Harz mountains, castles and gardens, industrial centers and vibrant cities.
