Product details
After studying in Karlsruhe, Alexander Kanoldt moved to Munich, where he maintained a close exchange with Alexej Jawlensky and Adolf Erbslöh, and co-founded the New Artists' Association in 1909. A crucial factor in Kanoldt's development towards New Objectivity was his engagement with French early Cubism. In the 1920s, he focused on painting precisely constructed still lifes in metallic-cool colors and became a leading representative of this genre. Kanoldt's significant role in modern German painting is undisputed. The meticulous reconstruction of his oeuvre receives a long-overdue recognition.
