The sculptor Stella Hamberg (born 1975) primarily chooses the classic material of bronze, which has always connected durability with metamorphosis, even in the combination of various metals created through the melting process in fire. The essence of the figures she creates includes their existence in time and the ability to transform. Seeking the expression of the spiritual in the forms of the physical, from the overall posture to the nuances of the sculptural detail and the shimmer of the surface, has been a theme for sculptors since antiquity. The reinterpretation of this great tradition is an aspect of the relevance of her works, which are presented in depth and richly illustrated in this first monograph.
