This book explores the neurobiological foundations of effective caregiving relationships in clinical social work. In an interdisciplinary study, three perspectives are interconnected: brain research, philosophy, and the case description of a stroke patient. In recent years, mental activities in the brain have been observed with unprecedented quality. Thinking, feeling, and acting seem to be precisely visualizable and locatable. However, the advances in modern imaging do not convey the subjective significance of the experiences.
