Since 1956, BRAVO has educated generations of young people. Homosexuality, initially a taboo, only became a topic in the mid-60s as a pathological deviation from the norm, aimed at warning youth against seduction. Starting in 1969, sexual openness was introduced with Dr. Sommer. When he described same-sex experiences in 1972, BRAVO was placed on the index of youth-endangering publications and was on the brink of being discontinued. One of the first contributions about homosexuality and music was sparked by the Village People with their hit Y.M.C.A. (1979). With "Smalltown Boy," Jimmy Somerville became an important figure in the young gay movement in 1984. The great silence was finally over!
