During World War II, Hitler's government transformed the state into an unprecedented machine of plunder. The vast majority of Germans were pacified with a mix of social welfare benefits, good supplies, and small tax breaks. The costs of this favor-based dictatorship were borne by millions of Europeans, whose property and means of existence were expropriated for the benefit of the German people and the plundering community. The author demonstrates how the proceeds from the sale of Jewish assets across Europe flowed into the German war chest, and thus also into the pockets of soldiers. Those who do not wish to speak of the many advantages for millions of ordinary Germans should remain silent about National Socialism and the Holocaust.
