Since 2017, the Kosmos Cultural Center has marked the conclusion of the new urban quarter Europallee in Zurich: cinemas, a bookstore, event spaces, bars, and a restaurant all under one roof. The Kosmos Cultural Center is an urban development project, a place of culture and art, and an adventurous story. Bruno Deckert, one of the initiators, has written a dissertation on the emergence of the cultural center: "The Discovery of the Cosmos - Autoethnography of an Urban Intervention." This is the core of the book. In a broadly woven theoretical framework of urban planning, sociology, and philosophy, Deckert explains, through the lens of an ethnologist, the intention and emergence, the context and economy of Kosmos, and his own role as a scholar and cosmonaut. The publication is enriched by a large collection of images, documentation of architectural plans, and a report on the events.
