Dorothy L. Sayers was born in 1893 in Oxford and was both a classical scholar and a graduate in modern languages. In addition to her popular Lord Peter Wimsey series, she wrote several religious plays but considered her translations of Dante's Divine Comedy to be her best work. She passed away in 1957.
