The world was nearly destroyed, but now it knows hope again. At the end of "Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn," Ineluki, the Storm King, an undead spirit with terrifying, demonic power, was only one step away from his goal of stopping time itself and eradicating humanity. He was defeated by a coalition of mortal men and women who allied with his own immortal descendants, the Sithi. After the fall of the Storm King, Ineluki's loyal servants, the Norns, retreat north to the Nakkiga, an ancient citadel that houses an invaluable artifact known as the Heart of What Was Lost. They are pursued by the army of Duke Isgrimnur, who is determined to eradicate the Norns for all time. The two armies will soon clash in a battle that is so strange and deadly, so infused with dark magic, that it threatens not just one side, but possibly all.
