The revised version of DIN 18041 addresses the acoustic requirements for implementing inclusion in the area of hearing and takes into account new construction methods and trends in modern architecture. In addition to these technical and societal aspects, the revision includes clarifications, additions, and also deletions compared to the 2004 edition. These changes will be presented and discussed. DIN 18041 provides requirements, recommendations, and guidelines for the audibility of spaces intended for verbal communication, such as classrooms, meeting rooms, seminar rooms, and other areas where people gather, such as foyers, break halls, cafeterias, play corridors, etc. During the revision of the standard, there were discussion and consensus points that are documented and explained for the professional community and users in this commentary on the standard.
