Mark Aurelius: Meditations. Likely written between 170 and 178 AD under the title "Tôn eis heauton biblia" (The Books of Thoughts on Oneself). First edition, published by W. Xylander: Zurich 1558 (1559?). The first German translation (in verse) was done by P. Stolte under the title "Allgemeiner Tugendspiegel oder Kern moralischer Gedanken Marci Aurelii Antonini Philosophi von und an sich selbst": Rostock 1701. Complete new edition with a biography of the author, edited by Karl-Maria Guth. Berlin 2016, 2nd edition. The text is based on the edition: Mark Aurelius' Meditations. Translated from the Greek by F. C. Schneider. Third revised edition, Breslau: Eduard Trewendt, 1875. The pagination of the above edition is included in this new edition as a marginal note, line by line. Cover design by Thomas Schultz-Overhage. Set in Minion Pro, 11 pt.
