First published in: Die Neue Zeit, 1903. This work represents an unfinished draft for a general introduction to a major economic work planned by Marx. However, Marx changed his plans several times, leading instead to the works "A Critique of Political Economy" and "Capital." A critical edition of the "Introduction" was published as part of the edition of the economic manuscripts.
