This volume focuses on two main areas related to learning and training the game-relevant performance prerequisites in basketball. Chapter 1 outlines the demands of modern gameplay, followed by an analysis of various concepts for its instruction (Chapter 2). The justification for a game- and structure-oriented beginner methodology within the framework of the direct and indirect game method according to Steinhöfer and Remmert is followed by a variety of suggestions for practical implementation in basketball learning (Chapter 3). The final Chapter 4 outlines the fundamental principles of coordination, technique, and tactical training, which are particularly important for game development, and is supplemented with a wealth of tested exercises and training forms for foundational and performance training.
