An increasing number of older employees, coupled with regional and occupation-specific shortages of skilled workers, as well as a later retirement age alongside rising psychological demands—this broadly outlines the transformation of work and society in our country. These developments explain why companies will need to pay much more attention to maintaining and promoting the health and performance of their employees in the future, not least to sustainably secure their competitiveness. An optimal break design can make an important contribution to this. This book aims to illustrate what this can look like in practice. It presents the scientific foundations of break organization in an easily understandable manner and makes them applicable through concrete design recommendations. Tools and simple checklists are provided.
