Karlfried Graf Dürckheim, a psychologist and philosopher, encountered Zen Buddhism in Japan as a German diplomat during World War II and significantly contributed to its recognition in Germany after the war. He merged Zen ideas with depth psychology, particularly Jungian approaches, into his own initiation.
