Anxiety disorders are the second most common reason for treatment in psychotherapeutic practice, following affective disorders. The manualized psychodynamic approach presented in this volume was developed for the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder. It is based on the principles of supportive-expressive therapy according to Luborsky and is designed as a short-term therapy with a treatment duration of 25 sessions. The effectiveness of the described therapy concept has been empirically demonstrated. The volume begins with fundamental information about the symptomatology of generalized anxiety disorder and explains relevant disorder models and theories. It then presents the therapy principles and the treatment, which can be divided into three phases, and illustrates them with practical intervention examples. The goal of the treatment is to address the central issue.
