Product details

For the 11th revision of the ICD-11 (International Classification of Diseases, WHO), the concept of diagnosis and classification for several mental disorders has been significantly revised. This book provides a compact overview of the most important changes that will impact the daily practice of all those involved in diagnosis and therapy.

23 mental disorders have been newly included, such as eating disorders (binge eating) or disorders related to behavioral addictions (gambling addiction), complex post-traumatic stress disorder, or persistent complex bereavement disorder. Other categories, such as childhood-specific disorders, have been removed and will instead be described within the context of the respective disorders throughout the lifespan. For schizophrenia and personality disorders, entirely new dimensional diagnostic concepts have been introduced; previous subtypes are no longer part of the classification.

Each chapter has been written by WHO experts in their field, who were also involved in the conception and revision of the ICD-11. Therefore, not only are the respective brief descriptions and criteria presented, but the backgrounds for the changes in classification are also explained and justified.

This book provides a clear overview of the innovations and helps prepare for the introduction and application of the ICD-11 in practice.
