The clinical efficacy of cathartic imaginative psychotherapy (CIP) in the depth-psychological short treatment of neuroses and psychosomatic disorders, as well as in the extensive treatment of personality disorders and ego-structural disturbances, is proven. The use of therapeutically induced and guided cathartic (i.e., affect-driven) daydreams bypasses resistances and is suitable for a creative expansion of numerous other therapeutic methods. The best-organized daydreaming procedure in psychotherapy is presented here in its entirety, supplemented by a chapter on the recent developments of CIP and its therapeutic outcomes.
