In addition to pathological eating behavior, body image disturbance is a central feature of anorexia and bulimia nervosa. Although improving body image is indicated for the long-term overcoming of eating disorders, comprehensive interventions aimed at enhancing body image in eating disorders have often been neglected in both research and practical contexts. The manual describes a cognitive-behavioral program for developing a positive body image in patients with anorexia and bulimia nervosa. The third, completely revised edition of the manual takes into account current research findings and is suitable for use in both individual and group settings. The manual first provides an overview of current research findings on body image in eating disorders. After describing the disorders, various diagnostic approaches are presented.
