Little rabbit girl Lotte has a tough time: "Stop dawdling," she constantly hears, and "Stop daydreaming." The ten-year-old can never seem to please her parents or her strict teacher, Ms. Luchs. When things become too overwhelming for Lotte, she drifts off into her dream world. There, she embarks on adventures as a brave pirate and battles a rival who looks astonishingly like her teacher. Luckily, her best friends are by her side: the diligent and somewhat anxious duck Merle and the easygoing bear Frieda, who dreams of being a ballerina. Lotte is on the verge of despair due to endless homework, tests, bad grades, and her forgetfulness. But then she encounters a strange forest dweller in an abandoned forest, who understands the value of dreaming and initiates her into an ancient secret. Illustrations by Marcus Wilke.
