This self-help book is aimed at women who suffer from the aftereffects of physical or emotional abuse by their husband, partner, or another relationship partner. The lingering effects of the trauma experienced, such as persistent feelings of anger, unwanted thoughts or images of the abuse, symptoms of hyperarousal, and especially feelings of guilt, often last for a long time and shape the daily lives of many women, even if they have already left the abusive relationship.
