This therapy manual is designed for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder and related issues. The approach is based on Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) by Patricia A. Resick, a widely used therapeutic method in the USA, whose effectiveness has been demonstrated by numerous studies. The cognitive-behavioral approach is particularly suitable for patients who have experienced Type I traumas, such as assaults, accidents, and rapes. However, CPT has also proven effective in treating war-related and other complex traumas. The manual provides a guide for the entire therapy process, starting with psychoeducation and the derivation of the therapeutic rationale, moving towards the traumatic event, and cognitive work. The latter focuses not only on established techniques of cognitive therapy but also on five thematic areas that are often relevant for traumatized individuals.
