The 5th edition of the guidelines for manuscript preparation provides supplementary and clarified instructions for creating manuscripts in the field of psychological research. The guidelines offer general advice on the structure of a scientific paper and the formatting of a manuscript. This is followed by formal instructions, particularly regarding statistical and mathematical text elements, tables, figures, in-text citations, direct quotes, and the creation of the bibliography. Finally, the manuscript submission process is addressed. Key information is summarized in the form of note boxes, and numerous examples illustrate the rules. A commented manuscript example demonstrates the implementation of the recommendations using a specific text. The aim is to provide a reader-friendly and useful resource for manuscript preparation while also addressing the current discussion on transparency and openness in psychological research.
