Product details

The significance of the book lies in the conclusion that freelance coaches could possess employee status. This could trigger numerous lawsuits against the German Football Association (DFB) and have far-reaching consequences – one might consider potential social security implications or those arising from special labor law regulations such as dismissal protection provisions, continued payment of wages, or vacation entitlements. In 2002, the DFB launched a new talent development program and commissioned around 1,200 freelance coaches to take care of the youth teams (U12 to U18). The DFB views its freelance coaches as self-employed individuals and does not consider itself their employer. Serious difficulties between a freelance coach and their responsible regional coordinator led to a lawsuit at the labor court.
