Thuan (1928-2002) is regarded as a witness of truth and hope. He once summarized one of his life experiences by saying: It is better for you to lose money, titles, even your life, than to give up your ideals and your faith. Never make the reverse exchange: the loss would be too great! He came from a family that was tragically intertwined with the fate of modern Vietnam. As a bishop, he was a political prisoner of the communist regime in Vietnam for 13 years. In his later years, he served as the President of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, advocating for peace and justice. He became internationally known for his retreats for Pope John Paul II, where he shared his life experiences, which were translated into many languages. This book provides insight into his life.
