Hope for clarification
German, Walter Hauser, 2018Product details
The fivefold murder in Seewen SO, the crystal cave murder in Oberriet SG, where two girls were killed during a cycling tour, and the politically sensitive case of the murdered Marie-Anne Rünzi in Zumikon ZH remain unsolved and have expired. However, despite being beyond prosecution after more than thirty years, they still evoke intense emotions and passionate debates today. Walter Hauser has spoken with relatives of the victims, witnesses, and suspects, and concludes that the current statute of limitations in Switzerland—unlike in Germany and Austria—for the most serious of all crimes is arbitrary and does not meet the widespread need for truth-finding. The focus is less on punishing the perpetrators after all these years and more on the legal possibility of clarifying a case.
