The performance of the increasingly globalized economy requires organizational forms that allow for the appropriate management of complexity. The design of supply chains, which are networks of actors involved in the flow of goods, is therefore being intensely discussed. Until now, the focus has primarily been on the relationships between customers and their suppliers; however, the relationships between a company's suppliers have received little attention. Peter Hans Voss develops a framework that illustrates the potentials and obstacles of collaboration among a company's suppliers from both the suppliers' perspective and that of the shared customer. It provides insights into the interrelationships within supply chains, offering solid starting points for practical design and further theoretical analyses.
