German, Francesco Fausto Nitti, 2018Product details
For over eight weeks in the summer of 1944, the ghost train wandered through occupied France with Jewish prisoners and resistance fighters on board. Its destination was the Dachau concentration camp. Francesco Nitti, one of the deportees, managed to escape from the moving train along the way. Immediately after his escape, he wrote this poignant and gripping account. It is a testament not only to the madness of the Nazi deportation and repression practices but also to the courage and resilience of the persecuted.
