How you deceive others and yourself
German, Peter MellerProduct details
We are conditioned to pay attention to appearances and adopt meaningless behaviors so that we do not stand out or cause trouble, doing everything as expected of us. It's no wonder that we repeatedly fall for liars, fraudsters, and charlatans, as they know exactly which rehearsed behaviors they need to display to deceive us. Specifically, those behaviors we learned from childhood and associate with seriousness: for example, the man in a suit and tie. Yet, the very modern economic criminals are often men in suits and ties or similar attire that we equate with seriousness. Thus, these wolves in sheep's clothing have an easy time with those who uncritically act and think as the majority does. We also often place importance on titles and certificates.
