Alltagstauglich Deutsch is aimed at learners of German with an English source language who are unsure about everyday situations and conversations with native speakers of German. It focuses on teaching common, idiomatically correct everyday phrases. The book consists of 13 main chapters, each divided into four thematically related sub-chapters that cover important everyday topics such as greetings and introductions, phrases of politeness, expressing opinions, discussing feelings and emotions, leisure activities, sports, media, telephoning, and more. The "Good to know" box at the end of each sub-chapter provides important information on the respective topic in English. Additionally, there are comments in English in the margin regarding language use, sources of error, regional studies, cultural differences, and more. A detailed appendix includes information about the special features of conversations with native speakers, typical gestures, and cultural differences.
