They live "in the refrigerator" - this is how children from Central and Latin America refer to the bleak rooms in the prisons and detention centers of the USA. Often, they have endured a life-threatening journey, one that many of their companions did not survive. Juan Pablo Villalobos has interviewed them and recorded their stories. These are children from Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, and Mexico, who embarked on the journey to the promised land in the north all alone, driven by violence and shattered families. They all share the same dream of a life in safety. And they have all already endured a story that some adults might not even dare to dream of.
